Glor-e, Your Favorite Christian Apparel Store is in the news
Do you know that Glor-e, your favorite Christian apparel Store, has been in the news lately? Do you also know that Glory was our initial name until a few minutes prior to the team's final decision when we decided to change things a bit? Well, let me break it to you. Vlad' Joseph, the owner, and founder of Glor-e recently talked to CEO Blognation and explained how he came up with the name Glor-e.
So, why Glor-e?
The inspiration for our name is from 1 Corinthians 10 verse 31 "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." The main idea was to create a Christian apparel store that would give glory to God through its products. Glory sounded catchy and easy to remember. We quickly decided on that name and the logo followed quickly after (I just love the dove, don't you too?). During the very last few minutes prior to the final decision on the name and logo with the publishing team, Vlad' suddenly had the urgent idea to mess with the orthograph a bit to make it more "modern" he claimed. He substituted the y with an e after inserting a hyphen, and that led to the name Glor-e as we know it.
According to CB Nation, whatever the inspiration or relation may be, the naming of one's business is one of the most important parts of becoming a CEO. Having a brand behind a strong title can make all the difference in the world. With that in mind, Gresham Harkless Jr. took the time to ask 24 entrepreneurs about how they came up with the name of their businesses. Vlad' was among those 24 and he revealed that he named Glor-e after a bible verse and went on to add:
The inspiration for my business name came from 1 Corinthians 10 verse 31. So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. I wanted a name that reflects the mission of my business, has an edgy touch while being easy to remember. I found Glory to be catchy, memorable and reflective of our mission. The edgy touch, however, was lacking. I decided then to substitute the y for an -e leading to Glor-e which is pronounced glory
What Vlad' did not mention is how he tried not to include any niche component in the chosen name, contrary to what industry leaders are recommending. As he clearly mentioned, he wanted the name to reflect what Glor-e is about at its core: glorifying God, and not focusing on the industry it caters to. We are glad to not only be able to glorify God through our products but also to be able to inspire and empower you and others like you so you can, in return, inspire and empower your world as well. We strongly believe in the power of positive change associated with that cycle.
We thank the team at CB Nation for publishing the story behind the name of our store. It means a lot to Vlad' and it sure does mean a lot to the whole Glor-e team as well.
